Name Year Notes
2028 Enlargement of the EU 2028 The 2028 Enlargement of the European Union saw Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia accede to the European Union (EU). This was the EU's eighth enlargement as well as the first after 15 years without any expansion of member states. It came into effect on 1st January of that year, but these 3 states have officially applied for EU membership in 2009, 2008 and 2004, respectively. The date of accession, 1st January 2028, was set at the 2025 European Council summit, held at the National Stadium, in Warsaw, and confirmed in Brussels on November 28, 2025. The Treaty of Accession 2026 was signed on May 18, 2026 at the Áras an Uachtaráin, in Dublin, between the then-EU members and the three acceding countries. Of these countries, only Montenegro had the Euro as its currency, but it was not a member of the Eurozone and the Eurogroup because it was unilaterally adopted. Albania and North Macedonia reached an agreement allowing them to join the Eurozone and abolish their currencies in a period between 1 and 3 years after joining the union. In another agreement, it was established that these three sovereign states would enter the Schengen Area within a period up to 5 years. With this new states in the EU, the sea, air and land borders have been reinforced to prevent illegal people from entering these countries, and several European military personnel have been deployed to protect them in the first fifteen years. This enlargement has enormously benefited these countries, including the rapid growth of population and economy, along with the life quality, life expectancy, health service, acess to education, HDI, with tourism and international investing as the main focuses.
VW Kavajë Plant 2031 Situated on Albania's fifteenth largest city, the Volkswagen Kavajë Plant is an automotive assembly plant as well as the largest manufacturing plant in the country. In 2027, months before entering the EU, Volkswagen showed interest in the Albanian market and made a proposal for the construction of the first car factory in the country, which would end up in an agreement to build a factory in Kavajë, 25km away from Albania's second largest city, Durrës. It began operations in 2031 fully owned by Volkswagen Group, manufacturing for the Audi, Škoda and Volkswagen brands. As of 2100, the Kavajë car plant is one of the largest employers in the region, with 7,051 on the payroll, and it is the largest foreign industrial investment in Albania.

Albania National Connectivity Plan 2041 The "Albania National Connectivity Plan" was a plan announced at the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 4th Albanian Republic in 2041. The plan unveiled by the Prime Minister was designed to improve the country's connectivity, making it more decentralized and encouraging citizens traveling within the country, being a major boost for the tourism sector in Albania at the time. The plan had many goals, but was based on three important pillars:
  • A National Highway Plan, which would improve and build many new highways, including the in Albania through public-private partnerships, government funds and European Union funds.
  • The total renovation and overhaul of HSH - Hekurudha Shqiptare, which would now be called just HS for publicity reasons, and the construction of a new railway station in Tirana, the Tirana Central Station.
  • The creation of a subsidiary of HS designed to project and build future high-speed railways in the country.
Visit Albania! 2045 The "Visit Albania!" project was developed to boost tourism in the country, to increase the importance of this sector of the economy in the country. This plan also resulted in an increase in cruises on the country.
Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo High-Speed Railways (AMOK) 2047 The HSH (Albanian: Hekurudha Shqiptare, "Albanian Railways"), later renamed HS, started building high-speed rail lines in 2045. HS has branded its high-speed service as HSSS (Albanian: Hekurudhat e Shpejta të Shpejta të Shqipërisë, "Albania High-Speed Railways"). In January 2047, with the aim of becoming a bigger, more influential and more important company in the Southern European rail market, HSSS merged with CBV, the operator of the only still under construction high-speed rail line in Montenegro, and with HSLK/KBZ, the newly state-owned company created to operate the future high-speed railways in Kosovo. From this merger, and after days of negotiations, the three entities decided that the new company would be called AMOK (Albanian: Hekurudhat e Shpejta të Shpejta të Shqipërisë, Malit të Zi dhe Kosovës; Serbian: Брзе пруге Албаније, Црне Горе и Косова, "Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo High-Speed Railways") and its headquarters would be located in Tirana, with maintenance and operations centers in Podgorica and Pristina. In Albania, AMOK currently operates on nine lines and is the only high-speed rail service in the country, with trains operating at speeds of up to 250 km/h or 400 km/h and the express line's top speed is 230 km/h.
EUTODS - EU Tourism Organization and Development Strategy 2050 EUTODS was a new strategy of the European Commission to organize tourism in the countries of the union in order to develop, monetize and strengthen it. The main point of the strategy was an agreement between all European countries, belonging or not to the union, which established the designation of all coasts in seas or oceans, mainly the coasts of southern countries, in order to facilitate all types of advertising campaigns, whether for travel agencies, hotels, airlines, etc.

The designation of the coasts of this country are:

  • Bregdeti i Drinit (Drin Coast) - from Montenegrin border to Cape of Rodon.
  • Bregdeti Ilir (Illyrian Coast) - from Cape of Rodon to Cape of Gjuhëz.
  • Riviera Shqiptare (Albanian Riviera) - from Cape of Gjuhëz to Epirotean border.

It took place in Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro (all hosting the tournament for the first time) from 17 June to 22 July 2063. Denmark won their second European Championship title, following a 2-1 victory over Croatia in the final played at the Tirana Arena, Tirana, Albania.

Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro bid was chosen by the UEFA Executive Committee in June 2058, being the first joint bid from three countries to be chosen. The three host teams qualified automatically while the remaining 85 finalists were decided through a qualifying competition between September 2061 to November 2062. Euro 2063 was played at sixteen venues (eight in Albania and four in Kosovo and Montenegro) in fifteen cities: Bar, Berane, Durrës, Elbasan, Gjilan, Korçë, Mitrovica, Nikšić, Podgorica, Pristina, Prizren, Sarandë, Shkodër, Tirana and Vlorë. Of the venues, ten were newly built for the tournament, while the remaining six have been renovated. In the decade before, the hosts invested heavily in improving infrastructure such as railways, through AMOK, and roads / highways at UEFA's request for their bid to be finally accepted after two other proposals.

The opening ceremony of this edition was held at the Podgorica Arena, Podgorica, Montenegro, with 50,337 seating capacity, and the two semi-final matches were held at Fadil Vokrri Stadium and Skanderbeg Stadium. The most used stadiums were the Tirana Arena, Fadil Vokrri Stadium and Podgorica Arena, tied in the number of matches played, following the Skanderbeg Stadium with one match less. The least-used venues were in Berane, Gjilan and Sarandë due to, as the three smallest stadiums in use at the tournament, they did not host any knockout round matches.

Ksamil Tourist Village Plan 2071 This neighborhood was designed to become a holiday home region, primarily designed for retired tourists from Northern Europe. The neighborhood has 2 zones, an area of high-wealth and high-luxury villas, with large and modern mansions overlooking the sea and the bay on the other side, and an area of medium-level villas for people with less purchasing power. . This project was very successful and in 2100, 77% of the houses built were occupied by retired people from Northern Europe, and 17% of the remaining 23% were occupied by people from Southern Europe and the North African region.
Strait of Otranto International Bridge 2080 The Strait of Otranto International Bridge is a bridge built over the Strait of Otranto, connecting Orikum, ALB, to Otranto, APU. The bridge is about 78 km long, making it the largest bridge in the southern half of Europe. This bridge was built to provide a quick road and rail connection between the two sides of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, thus facilitating logistics between Southwestern and Southern Europe. The project to build a crossing in this strait dates back almost a century, but it was not until 2078 that the idea regained strength when the Albanian government began talks with the Apulian government for the construction of a bridge consisting of a six-lane highway and a high-speed rail on the lower deck of the bridge. On the Albanian side, a 4.4 km long tunnel was also built before the bridge to connect the west coast of the Karaburun Peninsula with Orikum. At the beginning of 2080, after choosing the company that would build the bridge, the works began that would end only in 2087. The bridge was opened to traffic on August 31, 2087, on a Sunday at 39ºC, with the presence of the President of Albania and the President of Apulia, who were the first to make the full crossing of the bridge.
